OPEN CALL
This is a call to a collective exhibition that seeks to examine the tensions and intersections between: what is and what is not—a journey through the epiphany of presence and the echoes of absence.
At every moment, we are surrounded by signs, traces, and voids that define our existence. Like the vibrant hues of a Matisse canvas, or the palpable absence of certainty in Kafka’s prose, our quest leads us to unexpected places.
Presence reveals itself in the form of a smile, a gesture, or a piece of wearable art, within the context of contemporary culture and its reflections: interpersonal relationships, identity, memory, space and time. Conversely, Absence manifests in emptiness, silence, the space in between, or in the unsettling feelings of ”something is missing”, often linked to trauma and the past.
We invite Αrtists of all levels—from students to advanced professionals—to contribute wearable artworks that explore this duality, possibly expressing their interrelation through the dialogue between the contrasting elements underscored and/or used.

THE PROJECT
This exhibition is a manifestation of an innovative, vibrant SYNERGY among three galleries: Galleria Carlo Lucidi in Rome, the Tincal Lab Gallery in Porto, and Uni.Versus Gallery in Athens.
The term "synergy" comes from the Greek word "συνεργία" (synergia), which means "working together" or "cooperating” and explicitly implies a notion of unity and collective action where the outcome is greater than the sum of the separate efforts of the co-creators.
This first exhibition organized by SYNERGY will be co-curated by the three gallerists and will simultaneously take place across the three locations, allowing for a rich and interconnected exploration of the theme, as each gallery will contribute its unique perspective.
ELIGIBILITY
This exhibition themed “Presence and Absence,” opens its doors to Αrtists worldwide.
- Whether you are a student, an emerging Αrtist or a seasoned professional working in the field of Contemporary Jewelry, we encourage you to feel inspired and submit your application.
- There are no restrictions regarding the material, size, or form of the works to be presented. However, the conceptual background of the proposals submitted needs to address the subjects of the particular theme: PRESENCE / ABSENCE.
- We are looking for authentic approaches, and excellence of craftsmanship
- All works must be new and conceived specifically for this project. Pieces that are part of past collections or have been exhibited before will not be accepted
MATERIAL REQUIRED
Those interested in participating in PRESENCE /ABSENCE, please fill in the form with the following
- Name, Address, Telephone, E-mail, Web/Blog, Place and Date of Birth
- CV in narrative form, no longer than 150 words
- Apply with at least 3 and up to 5 pieces. Upload one representative photo per piece/work you wish to exhibit. Each photo must depict a single piece photographed against a white background. Please use professesional photos of high resolution (300 dpi, minimum dimensions: 10x15cm.). File type: JPG, JPEG.
Each photo should be titled according to the example below:
Name Artist_Description_Title.jpg (JohnSmith_Brooch_UnderTheSkin.jpg) - Short Statement of the Artist (up to 120 words) presenting the conceptual background of the collection, the Artist's sources of inspiration, the techniques and materials he uses, etc.
- A full list of captions is required, stating the materials used in the creation of the pieces, as well as the type of jewelry, date of fabrication, and dimensions. This information will help the gallerists better organize their exhibition spaces. Please also clearly indicate the Artist's price for each piece separately. Note that when you apply with up to 3 pieces, at least one should have an artist price of less than 60 euros. If you apply with 4 or 5 pieces then at least two should be priced under 60 euros.
- Please also submit material illustrating your working process. Photos and sketches are welcome, although short video reels are preferred.
Applications must be sent by MAY 31, 2025. No entries past the deadline will be accepted.

If selected to participate in the PRESENCE and ABSENCE project, you must pay a fee of 55 euros.

DELIVERY OF THE PROJECTS UNDER EXHIBITION:
For the delivery process, regarding the pieces to be exhibited, you will be informed after the selection stage.
Please take into consideration, that the organizers will not be responsible for shipping and import/export charges from overseas. Therefore, all works must arrive at the designated destination from within EUROPE, and no later than JULY 31st, 2025.
PLEASE NOTE: JEWELRY, OTHER THAN THOSE DESCRIBED IN THE PHOTOS YOU HAVE SUBMITTED WILL NOT BE DISPLAYED IN THE MAIN EXHIBITION.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The following terms and conditions apply to exhibitors participating. The organization reserves the right to revise these terms and conditions without notice.
- CONDITIONS TO ADMISSION
All exhibitors must submit a complete application package by the stated deadline. All information submitted must be true and up to date. Only complete applications will be considered. The organizers have the right to accept or reject any application. Decisions are final. Applicants agree that if their application is accepted, this contract is valid and both parties agree to it. All entry fee payments must be made on the due date. The organizers will not be responsible for the costs of transportation, shipping, and insurance of the exhibits. The organizers will provide security at the exhibition area. However, it is the sole responsibility of exhibitors to assume the risk of loss or damage. We recommend that participants insure their jewelry against any theft, loss, or damage that could occur during the event, including any transport or storage. - SALES AND COMMISSIONS
In the event of sales or commissions, the gallery reserves the right to charge double the Αrtist's price, including taxes. - PHOTO/VIDEO
Participants agree that the organization has the right to use the photographic and/or video art material provided by the Αtists, as well as any visual material produced during the exhibition, for advertising purposes in various media channels, including the Internet, catalogs, posters, magazines, short films etc. - CANCELLATIONS
The organizers have the right to cancel any entry if it deems the information provided by the entrant to be false or if the entrant does not comply with the criteria and dates specified. Cancellation of the contract by the participant in case they decide to leave after depositing the payment means a fine of 100% of the total value of the participation. Refunds cannot be made unless otherwise agreed in writing by the organizers.
